This year I have been given the exciting opportunity to create a Long Border at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2024. This years theme is to 'Make A Statement', I've chosen Dyslexia as a theme that has affected me as I was growing up.
I have designed the boarder around the theme of rasing awareness about dyslexia. I've used carved 'stepping stones' with carvings of ambigram words - ones that can be read upside down and the right way up - to reflect the struggle of reading when dyslexic. The stones are surrounded by a mixture of herbaceous planting with a colour palette of greens, white, purple and dashes of pink. They are predominantly shade tolerant plants as they will sit underneath two birch trees which I've used to create a statement within themselves. Taller sun loving perennials will also sit between the trees.
